Starting as a journalist who covered arts and culture, Berenice worked in various editorial roles before joining the marketing department of a world-class performing arts centre. From there she moved into municipal city hall, where she did editorial work and corporate communications. Her copywriting for Veer: Visual Elements for Creatives earned twelve advertising industry awards from icons like GDUSA, WebAwards, and HOW. Her short film scripts made the finals of contests in Vancouver, Los Angeles, and Kansas City, where one won Audience Choice in 2013. While completing her MFA in writing from the California College of the Arts , she worked as an Editorial Intern at McSweeney’s and as a writing mentor at the Oakland School for the Arts. She's since made three radio stories for KALW public radio and assisted with marketing the San Francisco International film Festival. When she's not painting portraits, filming/ editing weddings etc, or building content for her dementia startup, she can be found churning out pages of her pre-utopic novel set in a thriving, tech-savvy city in 2050.
